Well if you think about it... June 28, 2008 Don't buy it. You'll regret it. Enough said.
In all seriousnes however, I was somewhat disappointed with the product. As it has been stated by a previous reviewer (I believe), the pen writes very thick. It actually has a rounded off tip which I believe is what causes such effect, and while the pen itself may be great for signing off documents, it's not exactly the best choice for writing. I wouldn't have been as let down by the pen if it wasn't for the fact that overall it feels cheaply constructed. The pen is constructed mostly out of stainless steel and just doesn't have the rigour of more expensive items. I'm somewhat new to the whole "fountain pen" arena, but I was expecting something with a bit more "weight" for the price; especially considering how this pen usually retails for nearly one hundred dollars. I can't say it's a bad pen, I just feel somewhat let down by the quality of the product.
Also, the tip, while nicely engraved, is not a "pure" fountain; it has a plastic cylinder under it and being new to fountain pens, I was expecting that piece of plastic to not be there. All this makes me wonder just how much different a several hundred dollars more pen would feel and be constructed like and begs to tempt me into considering buying one.
great pen for the price December 27, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Probably the best fountain pen you will find for the price. It's listed at $105 at the Cross website so this is really a bargain. Be aware of the fact that this has a medium nib which I did not notice at the checkout so it writes a little too bold (thick) for me. Other than that, I recommend this to everybody.
