| Customer Reviews: Cheap July 6, 2010 me The finish and the product as a whole is very ordinary. Not worth the money
Javelin Fountain Pen June 21, 2010 Gayl01 (Southern Illinois) I bought a Sheaffer Javelin Fountain pen and what I found with my pen is that it is generous with the ink. I do not like my handwriting so I would prefer a fine nib instead of the med nib due to generous black ink and sloppy handwriting. Writing with this pen is a pleasure even more so with a Sheaffer Javelin ball point pen. The pens I got write as smooth as whipped butter. It is an extreme pleasure. I did buy two Lamy Safari fountain pens and found that they are scratchy and they are stingy with the ink. I tried flushing very well but to no avail. As always, Sheaffer has not let me down.
Disappointed in quality April 1, 2010 Lola (Chicago) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I like the feel of fountain pens but lose pens too often to buy a really nice one. Tried this pen as a compromise and was disappointed in the quality. When I write, generally, I don't press too hard on the paper and I write relatively fast long hand; I use almost exclusively Moleskine notebooks so it's not the low quality of paper but this pen does not write smoothly. After about a week of use, the nib seemed to have worn somehow and it started to catch the paper and was scratching it - paper lint then gets caught on the nib and it's basically ruined. I don't recommend this product, unfortunately.
Not crazy about this pen March 22, 2010 Bacchetta (Denville, NJ, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This pen has a fine nib, which is fine if you write slowly. If you quicken the pace, the ink does not seem to get to the nib fast enough. Also, the sharp nib cuts into the writing paper if you press even a little too hard, especically good bond paper. If I could replace the nib with a medium, I am sure I would be much happier.
