| Customer Reviews: I Love These Pens! July 12, 2010 L. Holmes Jr. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have several fountain pens that I use, including a Waterman Phileas, but after leaving it several places and then going back to retrieve it, I started looking for a disposable fountain pen that wrote well and I wouldn't mind it if I lost it. I already liked the the Pilot V7's and was delighted when I found these in black/blue in medium or fine nibs. They are excellent and cost very little. They are also hard to find off of the internet. My teenaged daughter has gotten hooked on writing with these and insist on nothing but them. I just ordered a bunch for her and her brother for the upcoming school year!
Pens that make writing easier June 27, 2010 Dian D. Chapman (Chicago, IL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've always been a fan of fountain pens, but as a technical consultant, I hadn't done much writing since high school, since most all of my writing is done via computer and keyboard. However, I've been a Soldiers' Angel since early 2008 (see [...]) and became a member of the Soldiers' Angels Letter Writing Team in late 2009. Since then, I've written to over 125 soldiers, including weekly letters to 13 adopted soldiers. So, to say the least, I've resurrected the lost art of letter writing, as I write an average of nine hand-written (more personal) letters each week. I'd been hunting for a nice fountain pen and did purchase a couple refillable ones via the web...one of which I like, but it wasn't quite smooth enough for constant writing and was a bit too thin. It was nice for the occasional note, but not for hours of writing each week. I discovered these disposable pens and just love them. I'm now on my third box of them! But they're not for everyone...as my husband proved when he tried using them. He prefers to print very small and requires a fine-tipped pen. I prefer writing script and do have clear, good hand-writing, so using a medium tip is no problem for me. I love how these pens glide on stationery, allowing me to write letter after letter for a couple hours each week with little effort...and no cartridges to handle. The flow is nice and even until just before they give out...toss it away and grab a new one. I'll keep using these as long as there are soldiers to whom to write.
Great Pen June 3, 2010 Cilantro13 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought my first varsity when in college for an art class. I feel in love with the feel of writing with them and the many things you can do by varying the angle and orientation of the nib.
Since then, I haven't seen them for sale in any of the office supply places I haunt. I am sure they are there somewhere, but this is a great deal for a great pen.
Favorite Pen... EVER! March 19, 2010 B. Walters (SF, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love these things. I had some several couple years ago, but could not find them again. When I found them here on Amazon, I did a little happy dance. I bought a box. There's a pleasing tactile quality to writing with a Varsity Disposable Fountain Pen - I'm aware of the pen meeting and moving over the surface of the paper. Ballpoints and the like lack this substantial quality and are messy. The lack of a "ball" tip also improves my control of the pen and therefore my handwriting. Next time, though, I'll go for fine-point rather than medium. Makes me want to write letters again.
