I'm the sort of pen owner that needs a _slightly_ expensive pen to keep from losing it but not too expensive to make it a target for others to take.
Parker's pens that accept this rollerball refill fit this need perfectly. The pens themselves are nicely weighted but not too heavy. The Parker rollerballs write on better paper smoothly and consistently. The medium tip is a bit "fat" for me, especially on cheaper paper. Combine the fine tip with smooth paper and bang! I've found the mix I like.
Anytime I let someone else use the pen they say "Hey Jim... that's a nice pen!"
The only issue I've found with the Parker rollerball is their tendency to leak after airplane travel. Maybe there is a preferred way to store them for travel but I haven't found one.
