Product Description Originally designed for school kids, adult consumers picked up the Safari and found its comfortable feel to be the perfect fit in their world. Extremely hard-wearing ABS plastic has two side mouldings for easy grip, and the barrel's flat sides prevent it from slipping off your desk. Non-traditional rich grey color makes it stand out among the rest.
Fountain pen does NOT come with a converter--be sure to order one if you like to bottle-fill! Material: ABS Plastic. Warranty: Lifetime. Weight: Light. MANUFACTURERS WILL ONLY HONOR WARRANTIES ON PRODUCTS PURCHASED FROM AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. DON'T GET BURNED, BUY AUTHORIZED.

suh-wheat! August 27, 2010 mfva (Baltimore, MD) After reading reviews on about 8 fountain pens in the same prize range, I finally decided to buy this one and I couldn't be happier!! This is my first fountain pen so all I can say is that, according to me, it's awesome. Writes quite smoothly, nice thick ink flow (about/almost 1 mm thick or 0.0393700787 inches according to Google), feels good in your hand, and looks cool. I was out to dinner with my friends and when it came to sign my check, I whip this baby out and perfectly sign my name (I don't know why but it just makes me write nicer than with a ball point), all my friends thought it was a great pen. Anyway, yeah, get it!
The ink does spill out a tiny bit if you store it point side down but if you're gonna carry it in your pants or shirt pocket (which i do) the clip keeps it point side up. Other than this minor, feeble, trivial, detail; it's a great pen.
I so wish I could have written this review with my new pen :)
Very happy with this purchase August 14, 2010 JonFox18 I just got my pen today and am very pleased with it so far. I was using a Waterman with a medium nib and wanted to switch to something that had a finer point. Having used the Waterman, I was thrown briefly but how light this pen was, but after doing a bit of writing, it was easy to adapt. I would definitely recommend the Lamy to someone looking for a lower cost option to a Waterman fountain pen.
Great pen, much more fun than a Bic! July 30, 2010 Mark Oribello (Swansea, MA United States) I bought this pen after seeing that there was a refillable option for it (bought that, too). In the first week of owning it I used it all over the place - in the sketchbook, writing notes, even in the back of an ambulance. Held up great, and it's really, really expressive (it took me a little while to get used to the blue ink; now I love it. It looks like everything I sketch is an old-style blueprint). The pen moves beautifully over all kinds of paper (sketch book isn't known for being the smoothest around and it had no problems) and leaves a nice consistent line - no blotting or anything.
A couple of things to be aware of: 1) I bought a medium point pen because I like the chunky feel of the line. The down side is that the nib tends to get a little excess ink on it, so if you're not careful you may end up with a little ink on the inside of your fingers. It's all part of the charm of using a fountain pen. 2) The ink on the tip dries, so you may find yourself having to remove a tiny bit of dried ink if you let it sit for too long with the cap off. Considering the affordability of the pen and its overall performance these aren't really downsides.
I am now thinking of either getting a second one with a fine tip or buying a fine tip so I can use different weights when drawing. I am also considering staying with the blue ink - all of the black ink I have is permanent (shellac based) which isn't supposed to go through this pen, so I have to buy ink one way or another - and I like the look of the current indigoish ink.
In short - BUY THIS PEN.
Fountain Pen July 24, 2010 Steel Tiger 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I do not recommend this product. I was looking for a quality fountain pen. Instead, I got a cheap plastic pen with the wrong color ink. The grip is uncomfortable, the ink fails to flow evenly, and the point does not move smoothly over paper. I have been making purchases on Amazon.com for years and have generally been satisfied with their products. This was the worst product I ever purchased through them.
Excellent feel and finish June 6, 2010 J. Olson (Virginia, USA) I ordered one - loved it - and have ordered a second. I prefer the Lamy over a number of far more expensive fountain pens I have. Great fit and feel to it.
