I own several "less expensive" fountain pens (all in the sub $100 range) and this is hands-down the finest among them. It writes smoothly out of the box and the fit and finish is superb. I highly recommend it. I read one review that said if one were stuck on a desert island with just one pen, this would be it. I agree. I also own a Waterman Phileas and prefer the Pelikan to it.
