One of the most important things you do is write. This pen will improve your handwriting so you can know--not to mention everyone else--what you wrote, sometime later. The only comparable pen, comparable in improving your handwriting, that I know of, to the Lamy Safari is the Mont Blanc large pen that costs a few hundred dollars. The Lamy has two important features--a grip so you can control the point of the pen, and a point that is neither slippery nor scratchy. The Safari is best for people who have trouble with their handwriting. Other people, with fine handwriting ability, can use any ballpoint. I believe this pen was originally targeted for school children. The handwriting of many men today is worse than when they were boys in school.

I love writing with this pen. Actually, I love my red one even more. I also have a charcoal one. It's super smooth, smoother than an anonymous very expensive one whose brand begins with, never mind. The extra fine is just right for me and not scratchy at all. The adapter works well so you don't have to use the plastic cartridges. But when you're writing away from your ink bottle, those cartridges are soo handy.

I bought this pen based on the one review at Amazon as well as doing a Yahoo search for Lamy. I was always leery about buying a Lamy because they didn't look well made, to me they looked cheap and tacky. However, I've had to change my mind about the pen. It feels solid and well built for the money. It feels well balanced in my hand and it writes so very nicely. I've never bought a pen with an extra-fine nib before. I'm well pleased with how it writes and with the pen, in general. I'm sold on Lamy quality. I'll be buying more of their pens in the future.

I love this pen - it is very balanced in the hand and the extra fine nib glides smoothly over the paper. It is by far the best fountain pen I have run across, and the price is very reasonable.
