 A nearly perfect disposable pen for daily writings August 23, 2010

I've gone through perhaps twenty-five Pilot Disposable Fountain Pens this year. I use them exclusively for note taking, casual memos, and just about any other office correspondence where I am not signing carbon copies. I find this pen nearly perfect for everyday use. Its small diameter might be uncomfortable to some but otherwise it holds well in the hand, the plastic does not get slippery, and it is very light. I hear a lot of pen enthusiasts speak of "good balance." I'm not sure what that means so I'll leave it to the buyer to figure out what feels right to them.
Another reviewer criticizes the ink in these pens. I have to disagree. Fountain pen ink needs time to dry as does most ink. You cannot write something and then expect to rub your hand across it or expose it to moisture without the ink smearing or blotting. Where I extend this criticism is the nibs are not always consistent. Some nibs write with much less ink discharge while others flow heavily. Even if you buy the pens in their bulk packages, you will encounter consistency problems between occasional units. My suggestion would be is to test a few pens and see if you find one which suits your writing speed and pressure better than the others. While you can't do that before buying them through Amazon, you can do that in most retailers. (But then you'll be paying a lot more per pen too.) Finally, I have not encountered any defective pens and the caps hold tight to the base when you stow the cap in that fashion.
I highly recommend this line of pens. They are good writers and enjoyable to work with.

Functions just like the real thing, weighs less which can take some getting use to but the different color choices are pretty cool. It'll be odd to toss the pen after it's empty though. lol Writes pretty smoothly and doesn't bleed through, dries pretty quickly. They aren't very durable so you could end up with an ink flood if you put them in a backpack or luggage.

These pens have been a blessing....I love a good writing instrument and do calligraphy as well. These are disposable so I do not have to worry about refills. The variety of colors is just what I need. I cannot purchase the variety pack locally so I was very happy to see them here. Even Pilot does not offer them at such a great price.

After over 50 years of having multi-colored hands from leaky fountain pens, I have discovered these wonderful Pilot Varsity Disposable Fountain Pens! What a delight for those of us who only write with fountain pens! And, these pens come in a rainbow of colors. Each pen is very comfortable to use, always writes smoothly, and never needs to be refilled - no more rubber gloves and many bottles of ink. The medium nibs definitely make a statement, and the pens never skip. I know that they also come in packs of all navy blue or black, but I love the bright colors in the assorted pack, which match any card I need to write. Pilot has a pack of winners here!
