 Effortless writing. February 13, 2010

At first I was very skeptical about writing with a fountain pen. This is my first fountain pen and honestly, I was at first a bit disappointed. I had come from a long experience with Pilot G2 gel pens (ultra-fine point) and because it didn't "write" like the Pilot pens, I was frustrated that I had paid this much for this pen. However, the more I started to write with this pen, the more I got used to it and began to truly appreciate it worthiness. My problem was that I was comparing apples to oranges, which in this case I was all too familiar with the Pilot pens to expect this Lamy pen to write just like it. Well, I now am able to better understand that fountain pens aren't for everyone but for those that like pens that require effortless writing. All in all, a good fountain pen if you want to get into the realm of fountain pens. Hope you enjoy writing with this pen as much as I do. I also have the Blue colored Safari.

I read some comparative reviews on foutain pens before I decided to go with the Lamy Safari. It looked like the best solution to a decent foutain pen. I've been using it daily for a month and all it does is work great.

This is my first purchase of a Lamy product and I 'm very pleased with the overall experience. I havn't purchased a new fountain pens in over 20 years [last was a Parker Vector] and wasn't ready to spend the big bucks for a Waterman or Omas. On to the pen, its well make the XF nib lays down a thin line of ink comparible to a fine point Parker ball point. The grip areas angled shape helps locate the pen in my hand. If I had any negative point is the pen is light weight and I would like a pen with a little heft to it, so my next purchase just might be a Lamy Safari Al-Star Fountain Pen.

The Lamy Safari is wonderful to write with and is pleasing to the eye as well. The nib is as smooth as one can expect from a $30 fountain pen, its facetted grip fits my hand perfectly and you don't have to look at it to find the right position. I bought mine with a converter and it works very well. I write a lot every day, and it has yet to fail me in any way.

This is the best pen I use; it is better than pens twice the price. The flow is smooth and is comfortable to write with. Don't let the plastic case fool you; it is a great pen.
