5 out of 5 stars An excellent writer, fantastic price.   June 26, 2010
S. Medzyk (Lancaster, Ca, US)
This was among my first fountain pens, and it is an everyday writer for me. It isn't a 'pretty' pen that you're afraid to use, but it looks good! Mine bangs around in a backpack just fine.

They're much lighter than they look, and can be used all day with very little hand fatigue. The ability to change out nibs on your own is really nice, and means you can have a massive array of nib sizes with only one body for much cheaper than you could buy separate pens for.

1 out of 5 stars don't waste your money   June 22, 2010

about the worst pen i've ever had. You can't write one single word without stoppage of ink flow. so what should take ten minutes to write, well just double it...you have to go over parts of each letter 1, 2 or 3 times. I've bought the converter but haven't tried it yet; according to others, it's a necessity. And you if you really want a fine point pen, this isn't it. At the very least, it's a medium

5 out of 5 stars Finally, Affordable Excellence   June 8, 2010
David C. Baker (Nashville, TN)
I'm a pen lover, and was a little leary of this pen, it being plastic and all. But the feel of it is quite ergonomic. And, most importantly, you can leave it unused for weeks at a time and it'll write well with a solid line right out of the gate. I always buy blue so that it is obviously not black laser printing just made to look personalized, and the blue ink is nice. The pen is a little pricy given it's material makeup, but I'm thrilled with it. For some reason, writing with a fountain pen--especially on a good paper--takes me back a couple of centuries and it feels "real" again. This pen is terrific, as are most pens from this company.

4 out of 5 stars Fine Is Too Thick!!!   June 2, 2010

Just received this pen(Lamy Safari, Fine) in the mail. Did some quick testing, found that FINE is WAY too thick for my taste. Will either have to buy the extra fine nib or an entire pen with the extra fin nib.

Also found the ink(blue) in the stock tube to be a bit too light. Not really a big problem, since I bought the refillable tube along with the Noodler's waterproof ink. Hope that will work out.

Other than that, the pen is fine--it writes very smoothly.

5 out of 5 stars Great pen!   April 24, 2010

I've been very happy with this, my first fountain pen. The pen writes great; very smooth and even delivery of ink. The pen also feels great in the hand. I was surprised at how quickly it went through an ink cartridge. After burning through the first ink cartridge so fast I purchased a bottle of ink and a refillable cartridge which works extremely well. I have absolutely no complaints with this pen. I can't believe it is priced as low as it is.

If you are thinking of purchasing a fountain pen, be it your first or another (perhaps a less expensive fountain pen so that if it gets lost it is not the end of the world) then I would highly recommend this pen: the Lamy Safari (fine tip). Well made and a pleasure to use.
